I have always been intrigued by the history of the Koh-i-noor diamond. It is perceived to be one of the most magnificent jewels in the world, and it is known as the mountain of light. It’s historical origins can be linked to both Indian and Persian rulers – and due to their fight for it, it ended up in the hands of the British. Queen Victoria was named Empress of India, and the Koh-i-noor diamonds became part of the crown jewels. To this day, the diamond remains in the Tower of London. It is said to be unlucky for any man who wears or owns it (as history can show us!) and to bring fortune to any woman who owns it. I’d love to learn more about its historical basis and significane… it’s so interesting.
